Dr. Stephen J. Alexander and Mrs. Margaret Richards married April 16, 1856

Mrs. Margaret Alexander, widow of Dr. S. J. Alexander died Sunday afternoon at her home, at 315 Upper Main street, after a brief illness of pneumonia. She became ill of pleurisy last Wednesday and pneumonia developed the following day, after which time her condition rapidly grew worse. Mrs. Alexander was 89 years of age and was a native of New Albany, where she lived all of her life. For fifty years she had lived in the house in which she died. She was a charter member of Centenary M. E. church, which was organized more than sixty years ago, and when she was younger was active in church work. Her husband was for many years one of the most prominent physicians in Southern Indiana. Mrs. Alexander is survived by three children, a daughter and two sons. They are Mrs. J. W. Collier, of Keokuk, Ia.; Charles B. Alexander, of Chicago, and Stephen J. Alexander, of New Albany. - Public Press 28 Feb 1911
