Her life's journey began in Arkansas County as the fifth child of Harry and Martha Earlywine Engelkes.
She married the love of her life and her life time partner, William Byron Bennett on April 3, 1947, in the parsonage of the Almyra Methodist Church. Their marriage lasted 50 years until his passing in 1997.
Waunetta is survived by: her son, William D. Bennett and wife Marie of Monroe, LA, and daughter Sue Bennett Barger and husband Larry of Pearl River, LA.
Her surviving grandchildren are: Loren Bennett Carpenter and husband Jason of Grapevine, TX, Brandon Joseph Barger of Pearl River, LA, and Russell Matthew Bennett and wife Kristta of Oakland, NJ.
Surviving siblings are: Edna Neukam and husband Henry, Ethel Scroggins and Kenneth (Pickle) Engelkes and wife Myrtie, all of Arkansas County. She is also survived by: numerous nieces and nephews and their families, all of whom she loved dearly.
In addition to her parents and husband, Waunetta was preceded in death by: brothers, Lloyd Engelkes and Wilbur Engelkes; and a sister, Thelma Engelkes. She was also preceded in death by: sister-in-law, Margaret Engelkes; and brother -in-law, Kenneth Scroggins.
Waunetta was a long term member of Grand Prairie Church. She will always be remembered for the love and care she shared with her family and friends (especially her exercise group), and her church family.
Funeral services were held at Grand Prairie Church with burial in Lone Tree Cemetery. Arrangments were by: Turpin Funeral Home.
