Ruby M. Huey, age 89, a former Portland resident, passed away Wednesday in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where she had resided since 1986. She retired in 1986 after serving 2 terms as Jay County Recorder. Prior to that she worked as a Jay County Probation Officer in the courthouse. She was a 1940 graduate of Portland High School and a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Portland.
Ruby M. Huey was born on February 27, 1922 in Jay County, the daughter of Clem and Nancy (Petry) McKinley. She was married on April 12, 1941 to Richard Huey, who passed away on October 27, 1970.
Survivors include three sons, Joe David Huey (wife-Sylvia) of Virginia Beach, VA, Dr. Richard D. Huey (wife-Linda) of Virginia Beach, VA, and Dennis G. Huey (wife-Randa) of Greeley, CO; one sister, Cora Dugan, Portland, IN; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland. Pastor Jason Rice will officiate and burial will follow in the Salamonia Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. Monday at the Williamson and Spencer Funeral Home in Portland.
