Mrs. Markham, 89, a retired farm homemaker, died Friday at Pine Haven Nursing Home where she had been a resident since last December.
Born May 9, 1894, in Rochester township, the former Mabel Stoppel married Bernie Markham Nov. 29, 1917 in Byron. The couple farmed in the Stewartville area until 1938 when they moved to a farm near Oronoco. They retired in Oronoco in 1951. He died in 1969.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Gaylord (Doris) Kautz of Oronoco; six sons, Henry, Vernon, Leonnard and William, all of Oronoco, Bernard of Cambridge, and Leon of Pine Island; 22 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren.
One sister and two brothers preceded her in death.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and until time of service Wedneday.
