Eugene Hightower, Carpenter of MH
Funeral services for Eugene Hightower, 61, a Mountain Home carpenter who died at his home at 61 East North St. last Thursday, were conducted Saturday at the First Baptist Church. Rev. Harold Elmore, pastor, officiated and interment followed in the Fairview Cemetery, in Marion County, with the McClure Service in charge of arrangements.
A native of Oakland (Marion County) and a resident of Baxter County for most of his life, Mr. Hightower was born on April 9, 1908, the son of Wallace and Ada Anglin Hightower.
He was married to Stella McCracken on Nov. 22, 1931, and they were the parents of four children. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Stella Hightower of Mountain home; three daughters, Mrs. Betty Brannon of DeRidder, La., Miss Joanne Hightower of Los Angeles, Calif., and Miss Vivian Sue Hightower of Dallas, Tex.; a son, Roger Dale Hightower of Conway; three brothers, Elmer Hightower of Mountain Home, Troy Hightower of Gassville and Don Hightower of Galveston, Tex.; three sisters, Mrs. Thelma Rose of Gassville, Mrs. Myrtie Lewis of Midway and Mrs. Virgie Aldredge of Muskogee, Okla.; and six grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Clarence Denton, Ralph Denton, Richard Ray, Larry Rose, Ted Rogers and Kenneth Perry. Honorary bearers were Ulis Davenport, Joe Stafford, Jack Gregory, E. G. Gregory, Harold Tucker, Opie Hargrave, Claude Hogan, Harlin Pierson, Arvin Pierson, Berman Anderson, Darrell Crownover and Dean Denton.
