Kay Walters, 64, of Laurel, died Thursday, May 17, 2007 at her residence.
Services will be 3 p.m. Monday at Life Church with burial to follow in Lake Park Hills Cemetery. Revs. David Hagen and Don Moen will officiate.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Laurel. She was also a former member of the Laurel Junior Auxiliary; a member of Gamma Iota and Woman of the Year for Gamma Iota; member of YWCO, the Cancer Society and Lauren Rogers Museum. She assisted in fund raising for various clubs in Laurel and Jones County. She was also a licensed cosmetologist.
She touched and influenced the lives of many people all over the world and brought laughter and sunshine into their lives. She was a most loving, caring and sharing wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Nelda Holifield.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Lavelle Walters of Laurel; daughters Karon Harrison of Spanish Fort, Ala., and Pam Hamil of Laurel; grandchildren, Garrett Webster and Cameron Webster, both of Spanish Fort, and Kayla Hamil of Laurel; father and step-mother, Algia and Ester Holifield of Laurel; mother-in-law, Nancy Walters of Laurel; sisters, Aljean Young of Meridian and Janelle Stevens of Laurel; life-time family friend, Hattie Tate of Laurel.
Pallbearers will be Bo Atwood, Billy Joe Landrum Mickey Holloway, Dutch Schroeder, Ken Keyes, Larry Loftin and John Dees.
Visitation is today from 5-9 p.m. at Life Church. Memory Chapel Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Nelda Holifield Scholarship Music Fund at Jones County Junior College.
