He next married Ruth Helen Walker, likely in Omaha, Nebraska and a daughter, Helen Marie was born to that marriage. That marriage ended in divorce shortly after Helen was born. He then married Lillie E. Neve and adopted her son, Charles Edward Kernes, from her previous marriage to James A. Kernes.
After Charles died in 1954, Clarence and Lillie adopted his children. They also took in Charles' step kids.
