Mr. Baxley was born in Williamsburg County a son of the late Julius Edgar and Tina Matthews Baxley. He served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict where he received a Purple Heart. Mr. Baxley was a retired carpenter and security officer and attended Rehobeth Holiness Church where he was a member of the church™s Golden Hearts Senior Ministries.
Surviving are two daughter, Donna (Ronnie) Filyaw of Pawleys Island and Glenda (Wesley) Watts of Johnsonville; four grandchildren, Justin Filyaw, Jonathan Filyaw, Tyler Watts, and Lianna Watts; a sister, Hauline B. Cribb of Pleasant Hill; and two brothers, U.Z. Baxley of Harleyville and Levoy Baxley of Hemingway.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Baxley was preceded in death by three brothers, Angus Baxley, Ralston Baxley, and Wilbert Jim Baxley; and two sisters, Irene B. Douglas and Exie B. Avant.
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, March 21, 2005, at Rehobeth Pentecostal Holiness Church with interment following in the Garden of Devotion Cemetery directed by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Sunday at the funeral home.
