Mr. Cox was born in Hemingway, a son of the late Elliot Jasper and Eliza Josephine Haselden Cox. He served in the United States Army and was the retired owner and operator of Jr. Cox Grocery. Mr. Cox was a member of Hannah™s Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church where he was a former deacon.
Survivors include his three daughters, Lennie Ree Susie Cox of Hemingway, Cynthia (Glenn) Hanna and Donise (Gene) Powell, both of Johnsonville; a son, Errol (Peggy) Cox of Johnsonville; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and a brother, E.J. Cox of Greeleyville.
Mr. Cox was preceded in death by a son, Roger (Ruby Franks) Cox.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005 in the Chapel of Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway. Interment will follow in Garden of Devotion Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
