Sophia Stienecker emigrated to America in 1840 with her parents and older brother joining her older sister and brother-in-law, the Huenefelds, in Cincinnati. Sophia Stanecker, maidne name is spelled differently by source, married Friedrich Windhorst, February 1847. From a review of census entries, 1850-1880, the couple's children were Maria Elizabeth, Frederick, Emma, Louise, William, Sophia, and Ida. In 1900 Mrs. Windhorst reported that she had eleven children and five were living at that time.

Mrs. Windhorst's sister, Christina (Stienecker), and Johan William Huenefeld moved to Warren County, MO, circa 1840, where Wm died in 1852. The widow Huenefeld nee Stienecker married Wm Brueggenjohann in 1853. Mrs. Brueggenjohann died in 1898 and her obituary reported: She is mourned by her still living husband, seven children … also a sister in Cincinnati, Ohio, and numerous relatives, friends and acquaintances.
