She was the daughter of John L. Dorsey and Bessie B. Dorsey and a great-granddaughter of John N. Dorsey, the founder of Corydon. She was married to former Senator William L. Sullivan and was Acting First Lady on the many occasions he served as Acting Governor of Kentucky.
She graduated from Ward Belmont College in Nashville and University of Kentucky, where she received a degree in Commerce. She was a member of The Presbyterian Church of Henderson, where she was active in the Women's Circle. She was an active member of the Henderson Democratic Women's Club and a member of Samuel Hopkins Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
She was preceded in death by one son, John Charles Sullivan, who died Jan. 11, 1998.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, William L. Sullivan; one son, William L. Sullivan Jr. of Henderson; two grandsons, Charles Joshua Sullivan and William Zachary Sullivan; one daughter-in-law, Dana Sullivan of Henderson; three sisters, Nell B. Dorsey and Martha Hodge, both of Henderson, and Nan D. Rand of Winston-Salem, N.C.; one great-granddaughter, Lillian Elizabeth Sullivan; one sister-in-law, Betty Dorsey, widow of John L. Dorsey, of Henderson.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at The Presbyterian Church of Henderson. Dr. J. Douglas Blair will officiate. Burial will be in Fernwood Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home and from 1 p.m. until service time Wednesday at the church.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to The Presbyterian Church of Henderson.
Pallbearers will be Thomas Hodge, John Peyton Hodge, Boynton Merrill Jr., Darrel Pfingston, David O'Nan and William D. Lambert III.
