SHELBYVILLE,June 3--Joe Asbery Combs, prominent lumber dealer of Findlay, passed away at the Shelby County Memorial hospital at 1:25, Monday night after a brief illness. He had been in poor health for a short time but became critically ill last Thursday and was brought to the Shelbyville hospital. The body was removed to Lantz Bros. undertaking parlors and prepared for burial and later removed to the home in Findlay.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Findlay Methodist church at 2:00 oclock Wednesday afternoon. Burial will be in the Findlay cemetery.
Mr. Combs had been engaged in the lumber business in Findlay for 24 years. He was manager of the Paddock Lumber co. there. He was a prominent Mason and a member of the Findlay Methodist church.
Joseph Asbury Combs was born in Macon on April 25, 1864, a son of Jabez and Sarah Whitaker Combs. He was married to Emma Hennings, who with two sons and one daughter, survives. The children are Lawrence Combs, who graduated from the Findlay high school this year, Wade and Helen Combs at home. Besides a brother E.S.Combs at Findlay, he leaves a brother in Decatur, one in California and two sisters residing in Macon.
