[Below is additional information shared with us by Find A Grave Volunteer and Contributor, NGL. Many thanks to Nancy for sharing].

The 1900 census Gilberts Pct. in Etowah Co., AL for George Daniel, 30, and Dora, 23, - shows two stepdaughters of George: Essie, age 15, born Nov. 1885, and Lura, age 12, born Jan. 1888, so it appears that her tombstone birth year is incorrect.

Tombstone date for Lura January 1, 1885 She was a daughter of Dora Rhodes. Dora married August 12, 1894 George R. Daniel and Lura was listed as his step-daughter on Federal Census records. Lura's mother, Dora Rhodes, also had another daughter - Essie, born Nov. 1884, died May 19, 1916 in Birmingham, AL. Essie (also went by last name Daniel - married Charles Wallace Brown) and she was burial in Elmwood Cemetery in B'ham.

Lura Fail had half-sisters and half-brothers, step-sisters and step-sisters. George R. Daniel was married three times and he married women who already had children.

Lura's grandparents were Elijah T. Rhodes and Edna Lavinia Jenkins Rhodes, both buried in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Southside, Etowah Co., AL.

Alfred Devard Fail's wife, Annie, died 20 July 1928. Annie's last child, Catherine, was born 1926. Alfred was married to Lura when the 1930 census was enumerated. Lura had never been married and Alfred needed a wife for his small children.

God bless Ms. Lura for becoming a "mother" to these 8 children! The last of these step-children, Catherine "Dee" Fail Vinyard, age 87 died July 27, 2012.

"Daniel & Related Families" history was compiled by ngl. Dora Rhodes Daniel and George R. Daniel were buried in Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Southside, Etowah Co., AL.
