Timotheus (went by Timothy) Hauser was the fourth of six known children of Abraham Hauser (1761-1819) and Mary Magdalena Strub Hauser (1761-1839), who married 06 Feb 1786 at Salem, Surry (became Stokes and then Forsyth) County, North Carolina. Abraham and Mary spent their entire married lives in the vicinity of the Moravian Communities of Salem and Hope, in Forsyth County, North carolina.

Timotheus married Sarah Greter (became Crater) (1794-1876) on 07 Aug 1817 at Friedberg, Stokes (became Forsyth) County, North Carolina. Between 1827 and 1834 athe family moved to the vicinity of the Moravian community of Hope, Bartholomew County, Indiana. Timothy and Sarah were the parents of seven known children, six boys and one girl; namely:

1. Maria Magdalena Hauser Heinman (1819-???)
2. Jacob Ephraim Hauser (1821-1898)
3. Nathaniel Timotheus Hauser (1822-???) (died young?)
4. William Andrew Wilkinson Hauser (1826-1886)
5. Elijah C. Hauser (1829-p1880)
6. Manassa Timothy Houser (1831-1907)
7. Dewitt F. Houser (1838-1915)

It was originally thought that Timothy and Sarah were buried at the Moravian Graveyard, at Hope, Bartholomew County, Indiana. But it is now known that Timothy and Sarah, along with at least three of their children, Maria, Manassa, and Dewitt moved from Bartholomew County, Indiana to Richland County, Illinois between 1850 and 1853, when Timothy died.
