Born Caterina Angela "Angelina" Frosio in Vogorno, Switzerland, the daughter of Giuseppe Bartolomeo Frosio who was born abt 1830 in Val'Imagna, Bergamo, Italy who married Angelina's mother Annunziata Gallina of Canton Ticino, Switzerland after the death of Annunziata's first husband Giacomo Antonio Domenighini (1824-1854). Annunziata and Giuseppe Frosio settled in Vogorno in Canton Ticino to raise a family consisting of Angelina, who was their firstborn and a brother Giuseppe Frosio. When the bad times came, Angelina emigrated to America where, at 18, she married Vittore Berri in California who was also from Vogorno. She bore 6 children before she died at the age of 27 when her youngest was only 2 years of age. Vittore (1848-1915) was a hard-working Swiss dairyman who owned a large ranch on Salmon Creek out of Marshall in Marin County.
