OBITUARY, PIDCOKE, TX Phyllis G. Amspacher, formerly of York County, PA, died Friday, February 14, 2008, in an Austin, Texas hospital. She was 72. Funeral services were held at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Copperas Cove , Texas, with Pastor Robert Wagner officiating. Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Mrs. Amspacher was born February 18, 1935, on the Shedder Farm in Manchester Township, York County Pa, to the late David Franklin and Olive Gayle (Rider) Hunt. She graduated from Susquehanock High School, Glen Rock, PA in 1953, and married Melvin Stewart Amspacher on July 5, 1953, in Glen Rock, York County, PA. She was a substitute teacher and previously was manager of the Pidcoke Country Store. She lived in France (1960s) for about 5 years with her Husband who was station there, while he was in the Army. She was also a member of the Ladies Aide of her church. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Hazel Shearer and Pauline Amspacher, both of York County, PA. Survivors include her husband, Melvin Amspacher of Pidcoke, Texas; five sons, Gary Amspacher of Suffolk, Va., Melvin S. Amspacher, II of Pidcoke, Texas, Guye Amspacher of Copperas Cove, Texas, Jacob Amspacher of Pidcoke, Texas, and Vernon Amspacher of Purmela, Texas; three daughters, Teri Amspacher of Maryland, Olive Eisenhauer of Glen Rock, PA and Vonny Harris of Mound, Texas; six sisters, Mary Shearer, Marion Dubbs, Mildred Becker, Arlene Roseberry, Vonny Klahold, and Florence Heckert, all of York County, PA. 20 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church building fund or to a charity of the donor's choice.
