ROCKFORD - Winifred G. "Winnie" Ragan, 96, of Rockford, Illinois, died Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003, in Springfield, Missouri. Born April 24, 1907, in Noland, Arkansas, daughter of Ike and Frankie (Crockett) Oglesby. Married Darwin Ragan on July 23, 1922, in Hoxie, Lawrence County, Arkansas, he died in 1981.

Winnie spent the last 54 years of her life in Rockford, 15 of those years living at Park Towers where she made many dear friends. Besides being a wonderful mother and grandmother, she used her artistic talents to create heirlooms that have been handed down from generation to generation. Her quilts were "Winnie's Masterpieces." Age never diminished those talents nor her fierce spirit of independence, pride and love she continued to give each one of her family. She was truly the link that held our family chain together.

A member of North Park Church of Christ.

Survivors include daughters, Fonda (Kenneth) Lemmons, Jo Golden and Jan (Jim) Lavern, all of Rockford,Illinois, Bonnie Cole of Springfield, Missouri, and Linda (Jack) Ward of Minocqua, Wisconsin. 18 grandchildren 28 great-grandchildren 12 great-great-grandchildren. Sisters, Ella Allison of Arkansas, Alta Lane and Nadine Finfrock, both of Arizona, many nieces and nephews. Also predeceased by parents son, Gary Ragan, five brothers and two sisters.

Our very special thanks to hospice in Springfield, Missouri, and to all of the caregivers in mother's last years.

Services at 11 a.m. Monday, September 15, in North Park Church of Christ, with Aaron Herren officiating. Burial in Willwood Park.

Visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, September 14, in Delehanty Funeral Home Ltd., 401 River Lane, Loves Park, Illinois.
