Delia Helen Salas Lucero, 81, longtime resident of Farmington, departed this life on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, in Farmington. She was born Sept. 29, 1930, in Los Pinos, N.M., to Abraham and Ruppertita Lopez-Salas.
She worked at a variety of local restaurants, and for the Farmington Municipal Schools, including Bluffview Elementary School.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jose Celso Lucero; son, Marvin J.P. Lucero; her parents, Abraham and Ruppertita Lopez-Salas; brothers, Valentine Salas and Segefredo Salas; sister, Frotildia "Tilla" Tafoya; and three grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Chris (Carrie) Lucero of Aztec; daughters, Olivia (Raymond) Montoya of Bloomfield, Shirley (Francisco) Gomez of Farmington, Bernadine (Darold) Clark of Farmington, Nancy (Jack) O'Neal of Kirtland, Liz (Mack) Boyd of Farmington, Angela Lucero of Farmington, Henrietta Mason of Farmington, and Roberta Veazey; sisters, Ida Vigil of Española, Elsie Vigil and Cedelia Pacheco, both of Antonito, Colo., and Beatrice Medina of Taos; 42 grandchildren and 96 great-grandchildren.
Delia extended her hands towards the angels her Heavenly Father sent down to take his beloved daughter to his untouchable Heaven.
There she walks the streets of the unexplainable Heaven. We can only imagine the love, peace, purity and dancing to the everlasting joyful music.
Delia had mentioned that Jesus appeared before her and how handsome he was. She was a God-fearing lady who prayed daily for her children, families and the World as she saw the changes of Mankind.
She was a beautiful, award-winning mom and grandma - not a once-a-year recognition, but every day.
She was special and unique in the way she showed her love and kindness, but it was always from her heart.
She loved to sing, dance and joke around and occasionally go to the casino. She had a great sense of humor and quite humorous herself.
If she had wronged or offended anyone throughout her years on Earth, we can be certain she had asked her Heavenly Father for forgiveness for any of her faults, for God is all-forgiving and merciful. As we know it she would want us to rejoice that she had conquered her trials and tribulations here on Earth.
She is now soaring over to the other side of life, living eternity on eagles' wings to be with her Heavenly Father, receiving her rewards.
We have been left with beautiful memories and lots of love to hold close to our hearts until we reunite with her in the most awesome unexplainable Heaven above with our Heavenly Father, the Almighty One. Amen.

A second visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 2100 E. 20th St. in Farmington, followed at 7 p.m. by the Rosary.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Father Michael Vigil as celebrant.
Following the Mass, interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, 1606 N. Dustin Ave. in Farmington.
A reception will follow the interment.
