Gladys I. Harned, 71, of Mt. Vernon died at 5:05 a.m. Saturday, August 21, 2004 at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 24, 2004 at 10 a.m. at the chapel of Mt. Vernon Memorial Gardens. Those attending are asked to go directly to the cemetery chapel on Tuesday. Reverend Danny Dunavan and Sister Henrietta Dunavan will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, August 23, 2004 at the Hughey Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon.

Memorials can be made to the Friendship of Faith Church and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be mailed to Hughey Funeral Home, P.O. Box 721, Mt. Vernon, IL 62864.

Mrs. Harned was born on August 14, 1933 in Walnut Ridge, AR, daughter of Ray Raleigh Reynolds, and Etta Mae (Sudduth) Reynolds. She was first married to Robert Daniels, secondly to Glen Gailigher, third to Alva Buchanan, and lastly to Joe Bill Harned in 1982 in Flora. He died September 22, 1990.

Mrs. Harned was a member of the Friendship of Faith Church in Mt. Vernon. She was also owner and waitress of the Country Kitchen resturant in Mt. Vernon.

Mrs. Harned is survived by her son Alva Ray Buchanan and wife Tisha of Mt. Vernon; daughter Teresa Dawn Baldridge of Mt. Vernon; daughter-in-law Rose Daniels of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren Heather Hoffman and husband Jason of Mt. Vernon, Michelle Buchanan of Mt. Vernon, and Afton Buchanan of Mt. Vernon; great grandchildren Taylor Buchanan of Mt. Vernon, and Alyssa Hoffman of Mt.Vernon; sisters Sadie Hibbard and husband Delbert of Pocahontas, AR, Mary Graham and husband Leonard of Centralia, Maudie Graham and husband Dillon of Mt. Vernon, and Barbara Harvey of Centralia; brothers Bobby Ray Reynolds of Woodlawn, and James Reynolds and wife Carol of Mt. Vernon; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe Bill Harned, son Tim Daniels, and sister Alice Hall.
