When Mary was two years of age, her parents migrated to Howard County, Indiana. A few years after that, they moved to Linn County, Iowa, and by 1857 were living in Decatur County, Iowa, where she grew up. She met John Casper Chenoweth there, marrying him in 1869. They raised their family (all boys) in Decatur County until 1877, when they followed John's brothers and mother to Russell County, Kansas. Her youngest son was born there.
In about 1893 John and Mary moved with their sons to Saint Joseph, Missouri. John died in 1908, and she lived with her son Joe Chenoweth until her death in 1936. They lived in Adams County, Nebraska, and in Concordia, Kansas. Exactly where she died is still a mystery, and her final resting place is unknown, but we're working on it.
