FRANK LESLIE AIKINS

Frank Leslie Aikins, the eldest son of William James and Ann Shellhorn Aikins, was born near Pawnee City on Dec. 6, 1867, and passed away at his home in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on Feb. 8, 1953, at the age of 85 years, 2 months and 2 days.

On Nov. 29, 1917, he was united in marriage to Blanche Meader and to this union was born one daughter, Ruth.

His occupation was farming, although in his years of retirement he served in an executive capacity in the Citizens State Bank of Pawnee City.

He was a lifelong member of the Pawnee City Methodist Church, and was active in church work as long as his health permitted. He faithfully attended Sunday School and church services, and was always a good supporter of the church and other worthwhile causes. He was for many years a trustee of the church.

Frank was always kind, and industrious. He was interested in the better things of life and in the welfare of his fellow men. His fine upright Christian character and his interest in his church and community made him an outstanding citizen and won for him many friends. His was a well-lived and useful life, and he has earned from the One he served so well, "Well done thou good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of thou Lord.

He is survived by his wife, Blanche; his daughter, Mrs. Joe Reynolds, and her husband Joe; three grandchildren; one sister and many other relatives and friends. Two brothers, Lewis and Ed, and one sister, Ruby, preceded him in death.

The funeral service was held last Wednesday afternoon at the Methodist church and was conducted by Rev. W N. Wallis. Burial was in the Pawnee City cemetery.
