Margaret Rosamond "Peggy" Jordan, daughter of Thomas and Eleanor [née Weems] Jordan, was born near Cedar Springs in Abbeville District, South Carolina in 1779. Her father's family immigrated to this part of South Carolina with Rev. William Martin's group of Reform Presbyterians in 1767 and her mother's family where French Huguenots; who had first came to Maryland in 1725. Margaret was named for her maternal grandmother, Margaret Rosamond Weems.

Peggy was twice married, first to John McCollum of Pendleton; who died in 1818. She later married John Wardlaw.

Died about mid-day on Sabbath, August 30th, 1868, Mrs. Margaret Wardlaw in the 79th year of her age. The deceased had been twice married and left two families of children--the first is in the far West, and the other, consisting of one son and two daughters, were about her in her last sickness and followed her to her last resting place in that venerable city of the dead--Cedar Spring graveyard.
