She was a Girl Scout, played piano, and was a Rainbow Girl. Lila was a cheerleader 3 years in high school and was salutatorian of the Montesano class of 1955. She enjoyed helping with class reunions.
After graduation she attended G.H. Business College, worked in Bellingham and at the National Bank of Commerce in Montesano. In 1961 she married Byron Scott and lived from then until her death in the same house on Simpson Ave. Her husband was an owner of Picco Motors, and then Brumfield-Twidwell in Montesano. Lila worked part-time in his offices.
Lila and Scotty were a devoted couple with many interests. They fished for salmon at Sequim and elsewhere, followed Husky football, and bowled in leagues and at tournaments. She was secretary of her league in Montesano for many years. They enjoyed going to Reno, and on trips that came through Ford Motor Co. They spent much time at their cabin on Eld Inlet.
Lila visited friends and relatives in Alaska, California, Missouri and other places. She and Scotty went to Maui many years always including canned hams and other such items in their luggage. Scotty served on an LST in World War II, and in recent years they attended reunions of shipmates in several U.S. cities.
Lila enjoyed all of the family birthdays and holiday gatherings. She decorated many graves for Memorial Day and Christmas. She had a green thumb and tended plants in and around her houses and in her greenhouse. She inherited, and kept alive several plants, such as Aunt Ida, that are up to 100 years old. Lila gave to others much that she grew and canned at Scott Farms.
For years Lila was a part of a coffee group that rolled dice for quarters every weekday morning usually walking to the Sylvia Center and back home. She left a house full of quarters.
After the deaths of her husband and sister-in-law she assumed more duties in the lives of nieces and nephews. She attended performances and games, always remembering to bring Gatorade and treats. Every Thursday she went to Hoquiam to put away a shipment of supplies at her niece's store, including 100 boxes a month before her death.
Lila is survived by her brother, Joe LaBreck (Leota Breard) of Aberdeen; nephew Jim LaBreck (Sasha Anderson) of Bothell, his daughter, Jamie LaBreck, and Sasha's children, Taylor and Justin Gray; niece Jennifer Christensen (Alvin Christensen) of Aberdeen and their children, Jordan and Trace Christensen; niece Sharon Sierra (Tony Sierra) of Montesano; and numerous relatives locally and in Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her mother Mary LaBreck, her father Gene LaBreck and her husband Byron Scott.
