Born in Connersville, Pa., he came to Muncie as a child. He was the owner and operator of Don's Electric Inc. since 1970. He was an Army Veteran of the Korean War.
Mr. Gilpin was a member of Full Gospel Temple, Eagles Lodge 231, Moose Lodge 33, and American Legion Post 321.
Survivors include his wife, Darlene; three stepsons, Tony G. Gilpin, Muncie, Kent Sorrell, Yorktown, and Scott Sorrell, Durham, N.C.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Eldon (Deana) Reid, Muncie, and Chally Sorrell, Elwood; a brother, Paul Gilpin, Lancaster, Ohio; a sister, Mrs. James (Evelyn) Bergdoll, Muncie; five stepgrandchildren, Kimberly Berner, Matthew Ryan Gilpin, Brandon Reid, and Ashley and Devin Sorrell; and a great-stepgrandchild, Catrina Berner.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Parson Mortuary-Adams Chapel. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, north of Muncie. Calling will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the mortuary.
