Mary Bible Bowers, 86, of Plaza Towers, died Tuesday at Laughlin Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Bowers was born in Greene County and was a daughter of the late William Herman and Lula Brown Bible.

She had lived in Morristown most of her life and in 1986, she moved to Chattanooga, where she lived for 10 years prior to moving back to Greeneville.

She was the widow of Harold E. "Cedar Creek" Bowers and was preceded in death by a son: Jerry T. Bowers; two granddaughters: Terri Bowers and Beth Bowers; three brothers: LeRoy B. Bible, W.H. "Sonny" Bible Jr., and McKinley Brown Bible; and two sisters: Ardell Bible and Inell Cox.

Survivors include three granddaughters and two special grandsons-in-law: Vanessa and Donnie Gann of Soddy Daisy, Mary Inell and Shannon Easterwood of Talladega, Ala., and Felicia Bowers of Hixson; two great-grandsons: Jeremy Gann of Dalton, Ga., and Shawn Gann of Soddy Daisy; two sisters, three brothers-in-law, and a sister-in-law: Ruth B. Clendenon of Greeneville, Betty and Gary Legg of Dayton, Ohio, Don O. Cox of Greeneville, and Harry Gene and Peggy Bowers of Morristown; and several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew and his wife: William F. "Butch" and Angie Clendenon of Greeneville.
Friends may call at their convenience at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home after 9:30 a.m. Friday.

Family and friends will meet at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the funeral home to go in procession to St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery for a graveside service at 2 o'clock.
The Rev. William Benedict will officiate.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Thomas Beckner, the 4-East nursing staff of Laughlin Memorial Hospital, the staff of Life Care Center of Greeneville, and friends and neighbors at Plaza Towers.
