Clarence E. Poland, Kittitas Valley pioneer who came here 65 years ago, died at his home at 1007 East First Street this morning. He was 78 years of age.

He was born at Fillmore, Ill., October 19, 1870. The family moved to Ellensburg in 1883 and he lived here until 1906. He moved to the coast and resided there until 1917 when he return to Ellensburg. He was resided here since. He was married to Annie E. Sayles on November 4, 1894 in Ellensburg.

Surviving are his widow, Annie E. Poland; a daughter, Mrs. Nina Page, and a son, Chester Poland, all of Ellensburg; six grandchildren, six great grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Poland; a sister, Mrs. Jake Litterer, and two brothers, Cortus and Jess Poland.

Funeral arrangements have not been completed.
