Emily Nielsen
Dies at 84
Mrs. Emily Hicks Nielsen, 84, 640 N. 300 E., Provo, died Sunday
at 11 a.m. in a local rest home of causes incident to age.
She was born Feb. 9, 1878. in Salt Lake City, a daughter of John T. R. and Anna Buhler Hicks. She married Heber Charles Nielsen May 10,
1899, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. H e died April 4, 1908.
She had resided at Grant, Ida., until 1908 when she moved to Raymond, Alberta. Canada, moving to Provo in 1911 where she had since resided.
She was an active member of the LDS Church having served as president of the Relief Society in both the Manavu and Provo Fifth Wards and had been a class leader, a visiting teacher and served on the Utah Stake
Relief Society board. She was a charter member of Manavu Camp, Daughters of Utah Pioneers, and was a member of the Lai Gall Club.
She is survived by two sons and two daughters: H. L. Nielsen
of Springville, Ralph H. Nielsen and Mrs. Stella N. Brandon, both
of Provo, and Mrs. Ray J. (Etta) Strong of,Salem- Ore.; 15 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; three brothers, John U. Hicks and Heber C. Hicks, both of Salt Lake City, and Joseph R. Hicks of Raymond, Alberta, Canada.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. ha the Berg
Drawing Room Chapel with Bishop William Wilde of the Manavu Ward officiating. Friends may call at the Mortuary Tuesday 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday prior to services. Burial will be in Provo City Cemetery
