Illness Takes Uthan, 88, Mine Expert
John Ulrich Buehler Hicks, 88, 75 S. Wolcott St. (1450 East) former Tooele educator, died of pneumonia Sunday abut 8 p.m. at his home.
Mrs. Hicks was superintendent of schools in Tooele County from 1918 to 1926. He also had been affilianted with the LDS University in Salt lake City.
A MINING AND civic leader, he was president of the Gold Hill Mining Co., the Federal Fam Loan Associates of Tooele County and the Utah Health Club. Mr. Hicks also held membership in the Utah Trails Assn. He attended LDS University; Winnipeg (Canada) Mechanical School, and Cornell University.
BOBN MAY 25, 1875, in Salt Lake City, he was a son of Thomas Richard and Anna Buehler Hicks. . He married Amy Erickson June 29, 1S05, in the Salt Lake Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Surviving are his widow; two daughters and three sons, Mrs. L. W. (Hilda) Richins, Lowell Hicks and Blaine Hicks, all Salt Lake City; Mrs. F. C. (Ruth) Russell, Tooele, and Jay Hicks, Ibapah, Tooele County. Also
surviving are two brothers. Heber C. Hicks, .Salt Lake City and Joe Hicks, Raymond, Alberta, Canada.
FUNERAL services will be conducted Wednesday at 12:15 p.m. in. the Federal Heights LDS Ward Chapel, 1300 Fairfax Dr. (1455.East), Friends may call at 260 E. South temple Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Burial will be in the Grantsville City Cemetery.
