Elbert Blackwell was the beloved husband of Becky Jane Newberry. They had many descendants, including Samuel Monroe Blackwell (one of their sons).

Obituary of Elbert Blackwell (Miami News: November, 20 1927): "ELBERT BLACKWELL Died at Home Here". Elbert Blackwell, 78 years old, long-time resident of Miami and Ottawa County, died last night at his home, 416 B Street, Southwest. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Becky Jane Blackwell; three sons, S.M.Blackwell, W.E. Blackwell, and H.G. Blackwell, all of Miami and two daughters, Mrs. Harriet Addington of Delaware County and Mrs. Lulia DeArmand of Miami. The Funeral will be at 10 O'clock Monday morning at the Holiness Church on South Main Street. The Services will be conducted by the Rev. Charles Rodgers. Burial will be in G.A.R. Cemetery under direction of the Cooper Undertaking Company."

*Correction to Obituary above: "Mrs. Lulia DeArmand of Miami" was actually Lula Mae DeArmond.

Elbert Blackwell was the son of Lewis Blackwell and Eliza Fann. His siblings are buried in the Kenner Cemetery, Maries Co, MO.
