Mary H. Capes, 90, Grand Forks, ND, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2011 in Valley Eldercare Center, Grand Forks in the presence of her family.
Mary Hueberdean Hart was born on January 29, 1921, the daughter of Fredrick and Rosalie (Varsnick) Hart in Grand Forks, ND. She attended Grand Forks schools and graduated from Central High School.
On June 13, 1943, she married Robert T. Capes in St. Francis Desales Catholic Church, Riverside, CA. They returned to Grand Forks where they raised their family. Mary worked in Foodservice the Valley Memorial Homes-Tufte Mannor, of Grand Forks for 18 years until her retirement in 1986. In June, she and Robert, with their family and friends, celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary.
Mary was a dedicated wife and mother to her 6 children. She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 6 of Grand Forks and the Holy Family Church funeral lunch committee.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; daughters, Rosemary Capes, Grand Forks, ND, Laurie (Gale) Evin, Warren, MN and Roberta (Steve) Arndt, Grand Forks, ND; sons, Tom (Nancy), Kileen, TX and Jim (Kathy), Kent, WA; 14 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; a brother, Hugh, IL; sisters-in-law, Phillis (Mrs. Jay) Hart, International, Falls, MN and Doris (Mrs Pat) Hart, Grand Forks, ND.
She in preceded in death by a son, John; granddaughter, Pamela Kaye Socwell; brothers, Jay and Pat; sister-in-law, Sue (Mrs. Hugh) Hart.
Memorial Mass: 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 9, 2011 in Holy Family Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.
Family Greeting: One hour before the funeral liturgy in the church on Friday.
Interment: Calvary Cemetery North, Grand Forks, ND.
