MOWRY FUNERAL HELD SATURDAY

Former Denver Resident Dies In Denver Hospital; Three Children Survive

Final rites were conducted in Holyoke Saturday afternoon for Mrs. Isabel Mowry, 84, of Denver, a former Holyoke resident, who died Thursday in a Denver hospital.

Services were held at the Olinger Mortuary, Speer Boulevard at Sherman Street in Denver at 7 o'clock Friday evening, after which the body was brought to Holyoke. With Rev. Norman D. Renn, pastor of the First Baptist church, officiating, a short service was held Saturday afternoon at the Holyoke cemetery, where burial was made.

Serving as the pallbearers were W.L. Bryant, F.G. Fiedler, Leon Kepler, O.H. Helland, B.A. Stephenson and Dr. P.S. Struble.

Out of town relatives attending the funeral were Miss May B. Mowry, Mrs. Grace Lyman, and Miss Annamae Lyman of Denver.

The late Mrs. Mowry had been in failing health the past six months. One week prior to her death she fell and suffered a fractured bone in her left hip, which resulted in her death. She died in the Mercy hospital, where she had been a patient one week.

Mrs. Isabel Mowry, a daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Alfred Trego, was born March 1, 1854 at Richland Grove, Illinois. She was united in marriage to Charles M. Mowry October 6, 1874. Following their marriage, the couple moved to Nodaway County in Missouri, where they resided 14 years.

In March 1888, Mr. and Mrs. Mowry and their children moved from Missouri to Colorado and located on a homestead 12 miles northwest of Holyoke. In 1893 the family moved to Holyoke, where Mr. Mowry purchased a hardware store and engaged in that business. Since his death in 1914, the business has been managed by an only son, Charles A. Mowry.

Widow of Charles M. Mowry continued to reside in Holyoke following his death. However, in 1918 she sold her home and had since that time made her home in Denver with her two daughters. She was a member of the First Baptist church of Holyoke. Throughout her life she had been an active and faithful church member and worker.

Survivors are one son, Charles A. Mowry, of Holyoke; two daughters, Mrs. Grace Lyman and Miss May B. Mowry, of Denver; four grandchildren, Mrs. A.R. Noggle of Los Angeles, California; Volney E. Mowry, Saint Marys, Pennsylvania; Mrs. James Lyon of Columbine, Wyoming; and Miss Annamae Lyman of Denver; and eight great grandchildren.
