Mrs. Carolyn Miller Blount, 73, of Salisbury, died Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at her home.

Born September 7, 1931 in Spencer, she was a daughter of the late Mary Barringer Miller and George Luther Miller.

She was educated in the Salisbury schools and was a member of the Class of 1949 of Boyden High School. She graduated from Women's College of UNC (UNCG) in 1953. She taught physical education at St. Mary's College and Salisbury High School before retiring in 1973. After retiring, she worked for First Union National Bank and Alan F. Burke, CPA.

Survivors include her son, Stephen Michael Blount and wife Melanie Hagler Blount of Salisbury; her daughter Lynn Blount Berry and husband Michael J. Berry of Lewisville; two sisters, Martha Ellen Miller (who raised her) and Frances Miller Ward, both of Salisbury; two grandchildren, Michael Anderson Blount and William "Boo" Taylor Blount, both of Salisbury; her special friend Richard Harvey and many very close friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 14, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Summersett Memorial Chapel with Dr. Larry E. Summey, Minister of Franklin Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
