Michael Dennis Hudson, longtime Ponca City resident, died Sunday in the Via Christi Oklahoma Regional Medical Center. He was 48.

Born Oct. 26, 1953, as a full-blood Choctaw, in Talihina, he was the son of Wesley James Hudson Sr. and Edna Wilson Hudson. He grew up in Eagletown and graduated from high school in 1971. He attended Southwestern College, Okmulgee Tech and Summit Northern College. On Dec. 25, 1975, he married the former Rae Mae Sissons in Idabel and the couple made their home in Eagletown.

Hudson was a direct descendant of Chiefs George Hudson and Peter Hudson and was proud of his heritage and bloodline. He was a member of the Mountain Fork Presbyterian Church of Eagletown and the Choctaw Tribe of Oklahoma.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Rae Mae Hudson, Ponca City; one daughter, Christie Michelle Hudson Askew, Ponca City; two sons, Larry Hudson, Tonkawa and Eddy Rhea Hudson, Ponca City; one stepson, Timothy Owen Sissons, Ponca City; his mother, Edna Wilson Hudson, Talihina; one sister, Theda Jefferson, Eagletown; two brothers, Gene Wilson and Wesley James Hudson Jr., both of Eagletown; and one granddaughter.

His father, Wesley James Hudson Sr. preceded him in death.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Mountain Fork Presbyterian Church, Eagletown. The Rev. Gene Wilson, pastor of Mountain Fork, will officiate. Cremation services are under direction of Grace Memorial Chapel.
