Birchie G. Toby, 81 year-old resident of Choctaw, Oklahoma, passed away on December 17, 2011 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Born June 11, 1930 in Hagerman, New Mexico, she was the daughter of George C. Welch and Gladys Mariah Gibson Welch. Birchie was a homemaker. Her family was first and foremost with her. She loved playing games, including computer, jigsaw, and word games. An avid outdoor lady, she hunted with her husband, worked in her flower beds, and believed in playing games with her kids and grandkids, not just watching them from the sidelines. A longtime member of Choctaw Road Baptist Church she was very active in her church. Birchie enjoyed reading and sewing also. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Arthur E. Toby; her daughter Karen Sue Toby; 1 brother, Leo Welch; 4 sisters, Ethel Young; Geneva Strailey; Cleo Greason; and Ida Mae Hall. Survivors include three daughters, Gay Simmons and her husband Buddy of Choctaw, Oklahoma; Debbie Toby of Choctaw, Oklahoma; Dianna Floyd and her husband Henry of Austin, Texas; two brothers, Calvin Welch and his wife Doris of Yukon, Oklahoma; Troy Welch and his wife Karen of Blanchard, Oklahoma; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer Ferguson and her husband Scott of Harrah, Oklahoma; Kelly Waggoner and her husband Jason of Edmond, Oklahoma; and K. C. Barner and his wife Dionne of Austin, Texas; and 1 great-grandchild, Blake Waggoner of Edmond, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Choctaw Road Baptist Church, Choctaw Road and Reno Ave.; with Pastor Rick Sowell officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Memory Gardens, Midwest City, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
