Calvin Coy Welch, born Nov. 6, 1933 passed on to be with our Lord May 24, 2013. He started his journey in Anadarko, OK and served in the US Navy during the Korean War. Calvin had the confidence and charisma that led him to be successful in many business ventures, including an independent trucking contractor, owning a painting business with his brother, developing land, and even raising horses and longhorn cattle. His biggest accomplishment was his nearly 60 year marriage to his beautiful wife Doris Welch. Through their love and commitment they created a legacy of 2 children, 6 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. An active member of the community, Calvin served as a Mustang City Councilman and was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge achieving the 32 degree (Past Master, Mustang Masonic Lodge). He was also a member of the 1st United Methodist Church in Yukon and the Genesis Sunday School class. He was a talented wood carver and loving teacher of the art. He also raised pigeons and delighted his family by performing in the annual Dinner Theater benefiting the Dale Robertson Senior Center. Calvin was a strong, unique, and loving man that will be greatly missed for his positive outlook, sense of humor, entertaining stories, and quirkiness referred to as "Calvinisms". Calvin is survived by his wife Doris, his two sons, Russell Welch of OKC and Coy and Kay Welch of Yukon, 6 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
Calvin was preceded in death by his Father, Mother, 5 sisters, and 2 brothers. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, please make a donation to The 1st United Methodist Church of Yukon or Masonic Charities.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church, Yukon, with interment following at the Yukon Cemetery.
