Rick served in the Vietnam War; Platoon 162, B Company. He enlisted in the Marine Corps on April 23, 1969 at age 19. He was honorably discharged on April 22, 1975.

He was born on November 22, 1949, at Saint Mary's Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio to Robert Murrill Jarrett and Nordelle Edith Ashorn. He grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio with his siblings Bob, Ray, Millie, Marlene, and Nordelle. He went through school up until 10th grade. In 1972, Rick was indicted for selling "hallucinogens." He was given 2 years probation on February 28, 1972. That came to an end in July 1973, a few months early.

Rick married Freda Furkin in Cincinnati on October 4, 1980. They had no children. They had a short-term marriage, getting divorced on February 2, 1988. He was what you call a 'hippie'. He worked as an electrician for I. T. Verdin.

He died on August 30, 1996, at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, due to respiratory cardiac failure, but also had sepsis and end-stage cancer. Many people think that Agent Orange caused these problems. He died just a short two weeks after his mother Nordelle, may he rest in peace.
