Word was received at the Maine Trust and Banking Co., Gardiner, Monday of the death of Carleton Lewis at his home Ranier, Oregon. Mr. Lewis was here two weeks ago to attend the funeral of his father. Hon. Weston Lewis and the news of his sudden death following that of his father can hardly be realized by this community. Mr. lewis went west some years ago to try his fortune amongest new people and in a new country. He was an industrious worker and was succeeding, conducting a bank and carrying on a cattle ranch as well. It is supposed that during his long railway journey of three thoucand miles to the Pacific he contracted the Influenza, but at this moment particulars are meagre. Mr. Lewis leaves a widow and on child.
