Margaret Blalock King, a native of Caswell County, was the daughter of James Weldon Blalock (1874-1946) and Mary Oakley Blalock. She and her husband, Alvis Franklin King, Sr., were the parents of Patricia Wilkins, Mary Butler, Barbara Gregory and Alvis F. King, Jr. Her siblings were Lizzie Pritchette, Sally Aldridge, Frances King, W. H. Blalock, Allie Clayton, Lou Blackard, Joseph Blalock and G. F. Blalock. She retired from Koury Hosiery, Inc. and a member of the Bush Arbor Primitive Baptist Church.
