George Franklin Blalock was born in in Prospect Hill, Caswell County, NC. He was the son of Mary Hasseltine Oakley and James Weldon Blalock; spouse of (1) Louise Simpson (2) Susan Edwards; father of George Arnold Blalock and Sharron Blalock Mansfield; grandfather of Temisia L. Jackson, John R. Mansfield, Jr. and LuAnne C. Mansfield and brother of Joseph Blalock, Nannie Lou Blackard, William Blalock, Sallie Aldridge, Allie Clayton, Frances King, Margaret King and Lizzie Pritchett.

He served for 38 months in the U.S. Army as a medical technician. He retired in 1979 after thirty two years from Western Electric in Burlington. He was a member of the American Legion Post #447 since 1979. He was a volunteer with Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell for 18 years. He was also a member and deacon of Moon's Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Caswell County.
