When just a small boy he moved with his parents to a farm near Mahaska, Kansas, where he grew to manhood. He was married to Miss Anna Larson March 16, 1898, and they have resided in Holyoke since that time. *

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Anna Lakey and nine children, Roy Lakey of Reynolds, Nebraska, Wilbur Lakey of Glendale, California, Forrest Lakey of Monticello, California, Mrs. Dorothy Bartling of Oregon City, Oregon, Mrs. Jessie Molkenthin of Denver, Mrs. Ruby Cordrey, Archie Lakey, Bobbie Lakey and Mrs. Willard Cordrey, all of Holyoke. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Mrs. Vera Knigge in 1927.

In the year of 1936 he and his wife gave their hearts to the Lord and were baptized and have since lived a faithful Christian life. He often said that he was ready when he was called.

Surviving are five sisters, one brother, eleven grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

A precious one from us gone,
A voice we loved is stilled,
A place is vacant in our home
That never can be filled.
