MRS. ANNA LAKEY RITES, SEPTEMBER 4
Funeral services were held Thursday, September 4, at 2:00 p.m. from the First Christian church of Holyoke, with Rev. Don Gordon officiating, for Mrs. Anna Lakey, who passed away at Melissa Memorial Hospital, September 2, following a long illness.
Interment was in Holyoke Memorial Park. The Thompson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
Anna Larson, daughter of James and Martelia Larson, was born near Rockport, Missouri, August 17, 1898 [1878]. When still a small child, she, with her parents, moved near the town of Mahaska, Kansas, where she grew to womanhood.
On March 16, 1898 she was married to Robert Lakey. To this union were born five daughters and four sons. In 1932 they moved to a farm southwest of Holyoke where they lived until the death of Mr. Lakey, December 15, 1947.
She and her husband gave their hearts to God and were baptized February 17, 1935 by Rev. N.F. Horn.
One married daughter preceded her in death, leaving a three-week old son, which she and her husband adopted.
She is survived by Roy E. Lakey, Reynolds, Nebraska; Wilbur J. Lakey, Lemon Grove, California; Forest M. Lakey, Pico Rivera, California; Mrs. Dorothy Bartling, Clackamas, Oregon; Mrs. Jessie Molkenthin, Denver; Archie F. Lakey, Mrs. Ruby Cordrey, Holyoke; Mrs. Pauline Cordrey, Phoenix, Arizona; Bobbie Ray Lakey, Seattle, Washington; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Conger and Mrs. Emma Masten of Holyoke, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren and many friends.
