Orangeburg - Everette Pierce Arant, 91, founder and retired chairman of the board of Merchants Supply Co., died Friday in a local hospital. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Burial, directed by Dukes-Harley Funeral Home, will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Arant was born in Bowman, a son of George H. Arant and Anna Felder Arant. He was a graduate of Carlisle Military Academy and Wofford College. He was a former teacher and principal of Livingston schools. He was a member of the Orangeburg Kiwanis Club and was an active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Jennie Pearson Arant; a son, Dr. Everette P. Arant Jr. of Athens, Ga.; a daughter, Shirley Salley of Orangeburg; a sister, Genevieve Shuler of Bowman; a brother, Harold Arant of Bowman; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. © The Post and Courier, Charleston, SC, 11 Feb 1995
