William was the sixth child, and third son born to Lewis Green & Nancy Morgan. He was born in 1828 in the Little Coon Valley near Gibson's Cove in Jackson County, Alabama.

William's family relocated from Alabama to the Wayne/Bollinger County Missouri area in 1842.

In 1849 William as well as two brothers and a brother in law were involved in the "Marr/Morgan" incident in Wayne/Bollinger County, Missouri. Three men lay dead after the shoot out. William as well as his older brother Noel and a brother in law, Thomas Stewart, were all found guilty of 2nd degree murder and served prison time. All three were released with full legal pardon by 1854.

William married Rosannah "Rosy Ann" Deshazo September 25, 1856 in Webster County, Missoouri.
This marriage produced three children. Two sons and a daughter.

William's first child was born in Webster County in 1859, by the birth of his second child, a daughter in 1864, his family was living in Northern Arkansas. They had one more son, Lewis, in 1866 in Arkansas.

William died August 9, 1869 in Bennetts Bayou Township, Fulton County, Arkansas. His widow Rosy and three children were listed in the July 1870 Census living with William's brother, James Green and family, in Bennetts Bayou Township.

William's youngest son Lewis, passed away in December of 1870 in Bennetts Bayou at the age of four.

I have seen research stating William was buried on the "Jeff Morrison" Farm near Bakersfield, Ozark County, Missouri. I am not sure if this was passed down via Green family or if there is documentation of some sort. I have never found any myself. Bakersfield is right over the Boarder from Fulton County, very near where they were living. Was Jeff Morrison a relative or close family friend? This is unknown as of now.
