Son of Leonard Beardsley (FAG # 220704904) and Gertrude Caroline Lanphere (FEG # 14840279).

Will was my great aunt's (Katie Maude Chamberlin Dinkel). She was a young girl when her half brother was a soldier in the Civil War. Will was part of Sherman's March to the Sea. While going through Georgia they rested in a wooded area. As Will was sitting on a log he began scratching the dirt around him with a stick. He found an area that was soft and with a bit of work was able to uncover a cache of jewelry that was previously buried. Looking through the jewelry he found a cameo, kept it, and reburied the rest. He gave Aunt Kate the cameo. That broach remains in the family.
