James C. "J.C." Kennedy, 75, of Hutchinson, died June 23, 2010, at Hospice House in Hutchinson. He was born November 22, 1934, in Lake City, S.C., the son of Robert B. and Corrine Stone Kennedy. He attended schools in South Carolina and came to Hutchinson after his military service in 1959. He was a machinist and section foreman at Cessna Fluid Power and later Eaton Corp. in Hutchinson.

He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and was very active with the Adult Committee at the church. He was an avid fisherman and hunter who enjoyed the outdoors. He was a regular at the McDonald's Coffee Group.

On January 16, 1982, he married Lucy Irene Ellis in Hutchinson. She survives. Other survivors include: sons, Robert E. Kennedy and wife Patricia, Hutchinson, Gordon R. Brown and wife Lynn, Mt. Hope, David Robert Brown and Danny L. Brown, both of Hutchinson; daughters, Jami Lynn Martin and husband Mark, Hutchinson, and Carrie Lynn Carlson and husband Douglas, St. Marys; a brother, James Grier Kennedy, Laurens, SC; sisters, Laura Mae Stone, Pamplico, SC., Vivian Hanna, Florence, SC., Hirfa Walker, Timmonsville, SC., and Lorraine McHargue, Acworth, GA.; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Don, Paul, Charlie, and an infant brother; a sister, Dorothy Coward; and a grandson, James Kennedy.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday, June 28, 2010, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery and Mausoleum, Hutchinson. Military Honors will be presented at the graveside by the U.S. Army Honor Guard from Ft. Riley, Kansas. Visitation will be held 1 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at Elliott Mortuary, Hutchinson. The family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.
