Charles was perhaps the best football player of the seven Redus brothers. After graduating from high school he joined the Navy. He was the fifth son of John C. and Hazel to go into the service during World War II. When he got out of the Navy he went to Southwest Texas University at San Marcos, Hays County, Texas and graduated with a degree in education. A few years later he received his Master's
degree.
He married (1) Beverly Jean Kent who finished high school in Tyler and attended Southwest Texas University where she and Charlie met. His first teaching job was in Columbus, Colorado County, Texas, and he taught there until his untimely death on 11 August 1981. Jean had preceded him in death by 13 years when she passed away on 4 September 1968 in Columbus, Texas. After Jean's death from cancer, Charlie married (2) Eugenia (Jean) Long. Charlie was a very likeable young man. He was selected Man of the Year in Columbus, was elected Worshipful Master of His Lodge and served as a District Deputy Grand Master for a term.
