Lee Meece, 48, laborer on the Oak Street project of the Pulblic Works Administratin, was fatally injured at 7 o'clock this morning, October 9, 1935 when he fell from the bed of a city truck on Highway No. 80, near Saline.

According to reports of the accident Meece slipped and fell while he was attempting to climb from the bed of the truck on to the running-board while the truck was moving. He was run over by the rear wheels. He died a few minutes later while en route to the hospital.

Meece and a crew of workman were hauling gravel from Fishing Creek for the reconstruction of Oak Street in Somerset. The truck was empty and was en route to the creek at the time of the accident.

Lee Meece was born are reared in the county, and has made his home on Denham Street in Somerset for a number of years. He was born to Mary T Stone and William P Meece May 21, 1887. He married Malinda Stringer in Somerset. Of this union 2 children were born, Willie and Effie Meece. Malinda died in 1913.

Lee is survived by his wife, Mrs. Sally Haney Meece and unborn child; their three children Albert, Robert, and Edna; children Willie and Effie from his first marriage; his mother, Mrs. Mary Meece and one brother and four sisters.

Funeral services will probably be held Thursday with burial at the family cemetery at Saline.
