Mrs. Mary Meece, 81 died of liver cancer Sunday evening at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Nanny Madden, at Somerset. She had been in failing health for several months. A native of Kentucky, she was the daughter of Willis and Nancy Elliot Stone, pioneer citizens of this section. She had long been a member of the Baptist Church at Ringgold, and was known for her kindness and consideration for others.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William P Meece; and her sons, Charles V Meece, Lee Meece and Clarence Meece.
Surviving are four daughters and one son: Nannie Maden, Mrs. Sarah Buster, and Mrs. Martha Cooley, of Somerset; Mrs. Paul Ross, of Asheville, N.C. and Raymond Meece, of Rossville, Ill. She is also survived by several grandchildren. Funeral services were held yesterday at the West Somerset Baptist Church with the Rev. Clifford Randall officiating. Burial was in the family graveyard at Meece.
