She married Robert J. Vallem of Madison on Oct. 1, 1983, in Camp Hill, Pa. Lou Ann moved around the country, following her husband's work. She started teaching private music lessons in the mid 70s and continued through the mid 90s. Lou Ann loved music throughout her life, from performing with her sister at the age of five, to later, as a gifted and hardworking teacher, passing on her enthusiasm and knowledge to her many music students.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; a sister, Donna (Lundeberg) Seldal of Montello;
four nieces, Connie (Russell) Notstad of Cottage Grove, Bonnie (Robert) Vine of Pardeeville, Cheryl Seldal (Mark Paape) of Montello, and Lori (Robert) Boomsma of Columbus;a nephew, Roland (Kimberly) Seldal of Savannah, Ga.; an aunt, Tilla (Hauge) Schmudlach of Stoughton; and an uncle, George Hauge of Deerfield. Lou Ann was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Oliver "Ollie" Seldal; uncle, Paul Schmudlach; and aunt, Marian Hauge.
Graveside services will be held at ROSELAWN MEMORIAL PARK, 401 Femrite Drive, Monona, at 3 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 6, 2012, with the Rev. Richard Dowling presiding. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. on Friday.
