Inez Lenora Bowen, daughter of Walter Grant and Emma Largent Bowen was born March 15, 1903 on a farm near Richland, Kan. She began her schooling there at the rural school founded in 1870 by her grandfather, Zodac Bowen and first taught by her grandmother, Minerva Bowen.
When the family moved to the North Grove community near Hastings in 1910, she attended the North Grove country school and later taught there.
She graduated from Hastings high school, attended Iowa State Teachers College and the State College at Bemidji, Minn. She taught in several of the Mills County school, including Center, Sandiland, and Hillsdale. On moving to Minnesota she was a teacher in the Cass Lake Schools.
On June 21, 1932 she was united in marriage to Dr Robert Campbell of Cass Lake. She acted as his assistant in supervising their hospital for several years. She was an active member of the Methodist church in Cass Lake.
Upon retiring, they spent a great deal of time traveling extensively, and in landscaping the surroundings of their home.
After the death of her husband in 1954 she divided her time and energies between her home, church, and community activities, and in helping friends and relatives. No distance was too great or problems too big for her to extend a helping hand.
At the time she was stricken on the morning of Jan 19, 1963, she was visiting a cousin, Zita Zirkle, in Topeka, Kan, and passed away at the age of fifty-nine years, ten month, and four days.
